  1. Locate Your Subject: Begin by finding the object or subject you want to focus on within your camera frame.
  2. No Direct Setting: Understand that there is no direct setting to turn off auto-focus on a Samsung phone through the usual camera settings.
  3. Alternative Method: To achieve a similar effect, use the following alternative method:
    • Aim at the Object: Point your camera at the chosen object or subject.
    • Tap and Hold: Tap and hold your finger on the screen at the spot where your object is located. This action will prompt the camera to lock its focus on that specific area.
    • Auto Focus Locked: You will see a message on the screen indicating that the auto-focus has been locked on the chosen object. This means your camera will no longer automatically adjust focus to other objects or subjects in the frame.

As you can see in the below screenshot, most Samsung phones do not have the ability to disable autofocus on camera apps.

Alternative Way to Turn Off AutoFocus on Samsung

Now, let me share a little-known method that you can use on any Samsung phone, and the best part is that it works on virtually any Samsung model. You see, there’s no built-in option to disable the auto-focus on a Samsung camera. Instead, what you’ll need to do is install a third-party application like Open Camera or explore alternative camera apps available for Samsung.

These camera apps offer more features and control than the default camera. They give you the ability to turn off auto-focus. So, if you’re wondering which camera app I recommend for Samsung, my top choice would be Open Camera.

My Personal Use Case

Since there is no direct way to turn off auto-focus, what I did was to focus on one option: locking the focus onto my chosen subject. By doing this, the focus no longer shifts from one object to another automatically. This simple change has had a significant impact on my photography journey, allowing me to capture much better photos of objects and people.

That’s it for my side. I hope you all enjoyed today’s blog post and found the information about how to-Samsung devices useful. I sincerely hope you had a great time reading it. Thank you, and have a wonderful day!
